DickinsonsMeadow
Hey, sorry I keep posting questions. I just got a diagnosis and my doctor is one of those specialists who's too busy to have long conversations. I've heard some foods are good or bad for POTS. Mine is related to low blood pressure, I think (again, my doctor wasn't too clear about the link) and I wondered if I could work with my nutritionist to ease symptoms. I often feel much worse after I eat. I know salt is good, but the possible changes I see online are so confusing. Does anyone have advice about how to start with all of this? As a side note, any tips for eating small meals when you have nausea (which I get a lot)?

Cookiemonster
Hi your diet needs to be, high in protein, low unrefined carbs, as little sugar as possible, eat small meals and often, graze during the day. Try and drink at least 2 litres water per day, eat salted nuts or sprinkle salt on meals. If you eat large meals blood pools in the abdomen, your dijestion will be slow as a result, it causes bloat and gas, but will also trigger symptoms, so spread small meals and snacks out, always choose protein. avoid caffeine as that will also trigger symptoms, so will dizzy sugary drinks of any kind. Stick to decaf and plain water, and limit alcohol especially, during a flare. hope this helps
Pistol
@DickinsonsMeadow I agree with @Cookiemonster. Low carb/sugar, high protein and frequent snacks instead of three big meals has made a lot of difference. Of course salt loading and increased fluid intake.
