Godsgal
When I was 18, I was told I had lupus and I didn't. All because my ANA was high. All people with lupus have high ANA, but not all people with high ANA have lupus. Hope everything works out for you and you get answers soon. sue1234
I don't know the exact test, but when I showed a highish ANA, then the doctor ran something called a "double-stranded ....". It came back negative, so I was told I did not have lupus.
icesktr189
So would a high ANA mean some other autoimmune problem if its not lupus?
rach73
Hi DaniYes a high ANA blood test can mean you have an autoimmune disease like rheumatoid arthritis, graves disease, lupus etc. I wouldn't expect you to have a clear diagnosis until you have had the rheumy consultation.Just try to stay calm and remember you can't change anything by worrying! I have to remind myself of that constantly as I am the worlds worst worrier!Good luckRach
mwise
Hi Dani,Try to hang in there and look on the positive side. Like others have shared It could turn out to be negative and you don't have lupus or if positive, it could be the cause of all your symptoms and they could treat it and get rid of them with you have some normalcy in your life again. Good luck and will keep you in my prayers.
